Distinctive Schools is thrilled to share that we’ve been selected to receive a STOP Award Rescue Grant! This grant will help us to build upon our community hub model that offers a continuum of care focused on the whole-child: leveraging trauma responsive and equity practices, innovation, as well as strong, intentional community partnerships. There has never been a time more important than now to focus on our students' mental health & wellness, learning acceleration, and diversity, equity, and inclusion!
We're honored and proud of the work we've done to date, as Alessandro, an eighth grade student at CICS West Belden student recently shared, "For me what I look for in a school is friendship and family because I feel like DS and CICS does a good job at making a safe, comfortable environment for you to be in...What I look for in a school is the community and how it helps or gives back to it, how it makes people feel at home. For me school is not just a place you learn, it’s a place you call home."
The funds provided through the STOP Award Rescue Grant will elevate and accelerate the work of Distinctive Schools. Distinctive Schools' CEO, Scott Frauenheim shared, “These funds will support after school, evening, Saturday, or weekend programming for students where they need us. Our culture has never been stronger. With this investment, we will keep pushing harder and faster to change for our schools and our communities.”
