CICS Bucktown hosted the 14th annual Distinctive Schools high school fair connecting students from CICS Bucktown, CICS Irving Park, and CICS West Belden with over 40 high schools from throughout the city and attending presentations from community hub partners, including One on One Chicago, the Loyola University Rambler Brotherhood Project, and Distinctive Schools elementary school alumni.
Prior to attending the fair, the 8th graders prepared by drafting questions to ask high schools in order to help them think critically about their future high school goals and opportunities. During the fair, students joined partnership presentations to learn more about the high school and college experiences, what school transition years look like, how to build their resumes, and how to set personal and professional goals.
Special thanks to all who supported the fair, and our 8th graders, especially: One on One Chicago, the Loyola University Rambler Brotherhood Project, Distinctive Schools elementary school alumni, and high schools from across the city for sharing their expertise with students. We’re grateful to the Distinctive Schools team who helped to plan and coordinate the fair, and to CICS Bucktown for being excellent hosts!
